Fannin County Adult Detention Center

The Detention Center provides services for inmates as well as the public.

The Fannin County Adult Detention Center is staffed by 16 Detention Officers that provide security for the inmates. The staff consists of Captain Greg Newman, Lt. Jill Huffman, 4 Sgts. and 11 Detention Officers.

The Fannin County Adult Detention Center is located at 645 West First Street, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 in downtown Blue Ridge, directly behind the Fannin County Courthouse. The detention facility provides humane treatment for persons convicted of violating the Georgia Code and for persons charged with felonies and misdemeanors awaiting bond or court appearances. There are 84 beds in separate dormitories for men and women.

 

Programs & Services

Services provided for the inmates are a 12 step program, drug and or alcohol rehabilitation programs and church worship services, as well as 3 meals a day, made and served by inmate labor which is supervised by Trinity Food Service employees.

Inmate Accounts

Accounts for the inmates are set up at the time they are booked into the Fannin County Detention Center if they have any money with them. Family members or friends can bring money to the inmate to be placed on their account for their use on our automated system located in the lobby, or go online to jailatm.com.

Inmate Commissary

Commissary is provided to those inmates that have money on their accounts and are allowed to buy soft drinks, candy, snacks paper, pens and personal hygiene items. Inmates that are indigent are provided with hygiene items and medical services for free.

Inmate Medical

Medical services are provided to all inmates. Within 14 days of their arrival to the Detention Center, a complete medical screening is provided for the inmates. Afterwards if an inmate requests medical attention it is provided at a cost of a $5.00 co-pay to those that have money on their account. Dental services are provided only if the service is paid for by the inmate in advance to a local dentist.

DETENTION VISITATION INFORMATION

There will be no visitation between the hours of 11:00am and 1:00pm for the inmates to have lunch.

Monday – Wednesday & Friday | 8:00am – 6:00pm & Closed 12:00pm – 2:00pm

Fingerprinting

The Detention Staff fingerprints all individuals wishing to obtain fingerprints for a job application or a firearm permit at the cost of $50.00 (money order only).

All applicants must

    • Submit a picture identification including the physical address (if  P.O Box – Must bring a proof of physical address)
    • Please bring a money order in the amount of $50.00 made payable to Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.
    • Prints MUST be done within 48 hours of completing a weapons carry permit application. If prints are not done in the allotted time, a new application will have to be completed.

 

BOND INFORMATION

If the judge has set bail, and you would like to try and get a friend or loved one out of jail,
here is some important information you will need.

Bond Information

Cash Bonds

The exact amount of the total bond in cash or certified U.S. Funds plus a $20.00 bond fee. The cash will be held by the Clerk of the court in which the bond was made until such time as the case can be disposed of in court.

Property Bonds

Where a property owner, that owns property in Georgia, puts their property up instead of a cash bond plus a $20.00 bond fee. All persons whose name appears on the warranty deed must be present. If a person on the warranty deed is deceased, a copy of a death certificate and or a quit claim deed must be presented also. Items needed for a property bond are the last year’s property tax receipt, a copy of the warranty deed for the property being used and a photo I.D. This bond will result in a lien being placed on your property by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office until such time as the case can be disposed of in court.

Professional Bondsman

Only the Sheriff of Fannin County can authorize a professional bondsman to operate in Fannin County. The Bondsmen that are currently being used in Fannin County are William’s Bail Bonding and Smith Bonding Co. These types of bonds require the inmate or their family to call one of the bonding companies to arrange for them to bond out the person in the detention center. The bonding companies require 12% of the bond as payment plus also a $20.00 bond fee paid to the jail. The money used to pay the bondsman is non refundable.

To come off a person’s bond

To come off of a person’s bond, the Surety(bail bondsman) or person who posted the bond must deliver the person on bond back into the custody of the Fannin County Detention Center or some other Jail in the state of Georgia.
