The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office maintains a specially trained and equipped team of deputy sheriffs that are prepared to assist in the resolution of high-risk incidents, tactical operations, and other public safety emergencies.
Deputy sheriffs assigned to the team must pass a rigorous selection process, competing against their peers. Selection includes physical training, shooting, and an oral interview board. Team specialties include entry, marksman/observers, medical personnel, negotiators, and command staff.
After selection, team members attend a basic course of training in their assigned specialties. All members train bi-monthly in various courses, including marksmanship, search and rescue, and tactical movement.
The primary goal of the Fannin County S.W.A.T. team is the safe resolution of critical incidents for all involved persons.
