The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office maintains a highly trained and specially equipped team of deputy sheriffs prepared to respond to high-risk incidents, tactical operations, and other public safety emergencies.
Deputies assigned to the team must successfully complete a rigorous selection process while competing against their peers. The selection process includes physical fitness evaluations, firearms proficiency testing, and an oral interview board. Team specialties include entry operations, marksman/observer positions, tactical medics, negotiators, and command staff.
Following selection, team members attend specialized training in their assigned disciplines. Members continue to train on a bi-weekly basis in areas such as marksmanship, search and rescue, tactical movement, and critical incident response.
The primary mission of the Fannin County S.W.A.T. Team is the safe and effective resolution of critical incidents while protecting the lives of citizens, deputies, and all persons involved.
